Marta Redondo was born in Leon, Spain, in 1984. She received her B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Universidad de Leon (Spain) in 2005. She received her Dipl-Eng. degree and Master degree in Electrical Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain) in 2007 and 2013, respectively. From 2007 to 2016, she worked first with ESELEC Ingenieros, S.L. and then with ENDESA Generacion, S.A., who has always been involved in the design of Power Plants. Since 2017, she has been working with the Operation and Maintenance Improvement unit at ENDESA GENERACIÓN, focused on the efficiency optimization of power plants. She has also been working as a teacher in Universidad Politécnica de Madrid from 2014 to 2019, where she is currently working toward a Ph.D. degree.
Carlos Antonio Platero was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1972. He obtained his Dipl. Degree and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain, in 1996 and 2007, respectively. From 1996 to 2008, he worked at ABB Generación S.A., Alstom Power S.A., and ENDESA Generación S.A., where he was involved in the design and commissioning of diesel for thermal- and hydro-power plants. In 2003, he began teaching at the Electrical Engineering Department of the Industrial Engineer School of Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and joined an energy research group. In 2008, he became a full-time Associate Professor. During these years, he worked in protection, condition monitoring, diagnosing electrical machines, and huge synchronous generators. He is a Full Professor in the Electrical Machine Laboratory. He has authored/co-authored more than 100 papers in international scientific journals and conferences. He has participated in more than 15 research projects. He has obtained more than 30 national patents, of which 6 are international. He was a Visiting Professor at EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne) in 2012/2013/2014, Coventry University (UK) in 2014/2016, and Edinburgh University (UK) in 2019.
