Gulnur Kalimuldina is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences at Nazarbayev University. She graduated from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan, in 2017. Her research interests are focused on materials science, nanomaterials, and energy conversion systems. She has several research grants as a Principal Investigator (PI) and co-PI, dedicated to nanogenerators (triboelectric and piezoelectric), nanomaterials, and energy conversion (lithium-ion batteries).
Harianto Rahardjo is currently an Emeritus Professor at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He obtained his Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada, and his B.Eng. degree in Civil Engineering from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Bandung, Indonesia. He is a member of the Professional Engineers of Singapore and Saskatchewan, Canada. He is a Core Member of the TC106 Committee of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) on Unsaturated Soils and a Member of the JTC1 on Natural Slopes and Landslides, a Joint Technical Committee set up by the three sister societies ISSMGE, International Society of Rock Mechanics (ISRM), and International Association of Engineering Geology (IAEG). He has served as an engineering consultant and advisor to various international projects. His research interests are in the behavior of unsaturated soils, the effects of flux boundary conditions on geotechnical structures, rainfall-induced landslides (assessments and instrumentation), soil improvement for tree stability, laboratory soil testing for saturated and unsaturated soils, specialized soil testing techniques and their interpretation, and analytical techniques in geotechnical engineering.
Zhai Qian graduated from the School of Civil Engineering of Southeast University in 2005. He received a master's degree in engineering and a doctorate in philosophy from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 2010 and 2016, respectively. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Civil Engineering, at Southeast University. He has been engaged in basic research on unsaturated soil mechanics for a long time and has made outstanding achievements in the seepage and strength theory of unsaturated soils. He is also an editorial board member of the International Journal of Geotechnical Engineering and a reviewer for international journals such as Engineering Geology, Géotechnique, Canadian Geotechnical Journal, and Acta Geotechnica. His research interests include basic research on engineering properties of unsaturated soil, the evaluation and treatment of shallow slope instability, research on the performance of foundation-bearing machines under special geological conditions, and the development of micro-software related to smart geotechnical engineering.
