Dr. Bing-Yan Wang received her MS in Oral Pathology from Beijing Medical University; a DMSc from Hokkaido University; and a PhD, a periodontology certificate, and a DDS from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She was appointed as an assistant professor at the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2005. She became an associate professor in 2011 and a professor in 2016 at the Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Dentistry. She is a past winner of the Educator Award and the Bud and Linda Tarrson Fellowship Career Development Award for Academic Periodontists from the American Academy of Periodontology and the Neal W. Chilton Fellowship in Clinical Research from the American Association for Dental Research. Her main research interests include pathogenesis of dental caries and oral health disparity of periodontal diseases.
