Throughout his career, he has focused on university research and teaching, including his role at the Institute of Regional Development at the University of Seville from 2006 to 2010. He has also taught at various institutions, including the University of Seville, Pablo de Olavide University, Osuna University School (University of Seville), International University of Valencia, and Isabel I University. Additionally, he is a member of the permanent commission of the Geography group within the Spanish Geography Association.
