Iria Varela-Rey is a Hospital Pharmacist and Rio Hortega Researcher who is very interested in antibiotherapy, PROA teams, and minimisation of antimicrobial resistance. She is currently working on the clinical implementation of antibiotic therapeutic monitoring in the Pharmacy Service of the Clinical Hospital of Santiago de Compostela.

Miguel Gonzalez-Barcia is an assistant pharmacist, responsible for the pharmacotechnical area of the Pharmacy Service of the Hospital Clínico Universitario de Santiago. Since 2001, he has led the creation and development of the Central Unit for the Elaboration and Distribution of Methadone tablets for the Sergas healthcare network. His scientific activity focuses on the area of ophthalmic pharmacology and drug stability in the field of personalized drug development in the hospital environment. His background in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and his knowledge in drug manufacturing allow him to combine these areas in the resolution of clinical problems related to drugs. He is a founding partner and scientific advisor of the company Basesoft, dedicated to the design of customized drug development software.
Irene Zarra-Ferro leads a pharmacy service that is characterized by being patient-oriented rather than drug-oriented. In our hospital, we acknowledge that a pharmacist is a recognized and required professional in the different services for our three aspects, which are clinical, management, and research. Irene has more than twenty years of professional development in the field of Hospital Pharmacy and four years in the General Pharmacy Subdirectorate of the Ministry of Health. Hospital Pharmacy has undergone a profound transformation from 2013 towards a clinical orientation. Currently, since 2018 as Head of Service, her commitment to research and innovation bears fruit through her creation of the UII-FH Unit.
Cristina Mondelo-García is a specialist in Hospital Pharmacy and a Juan Rodés researcher (ISCIII). She holds a Master's degree in Clinical Research and a PhD in Pharmacy from the University of Granada. She is qualified in all categories of animal handling and experimentation, as well as holds a Radioactive Facilities Supervisor's licence. Her scientific production in the last three years has involved the publication of twenty scientific articles and more than 50 papers at national and international conferences. She participates in two European projects obtained in public competitive calls, three research projects of the Strategic Action in Health, and two national projects in private competitive calls. She is a specialist in the field of personalized medicine and head of the Personalized Medicine area of the Research and Innovation Group of the Pharmacy Service of the Clinical Hospital of Santiago de Compostela (https://mibiopharm.com/unidad-farmacia-hospitalaria/equipo/).
