Prof. Dr. Guohui Xu is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Ocean University of China. He holds his Master’s degree in Marine Geology and his PhD in Port, Coastal, and Offshore Engineering. His research areas include marine engineering geology, coastal engineering environment, estuarine and coastal sedimentation, and material migration and transport. His previous research has mainly focused on the liquefaction of submarine silt in the Yellow River underwater delta. He has studied the mechanism, process, and identification of the occurrence of submarine silt liquefaction caused by waves and carried out field and laboratory tests. At present, the main research direction of sedimentation in estuarine and coastal zones is focused on the study of "storm liquefaction sedimentation". The research direction of material migration and transportation mainly focuses on the movement of submarine sediment flow towards underwater slopes and its effects on structures along the way (submarine sediment flow and its effects on pipelines, cables and optical cables). The environmental elements in submarine sediments in estuarine and coastal zones are released and migrated back to the seawater environment under the action of storms.
