Dr. Chmiela is currently a Research Fellow in the Department of Neurology at the Mayo Clinic Florida. He graduated from the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland. He completed his residency at the K. Gibiński University Clinical Center in Katowice, Poland in 2023 and is a board-certified neurologist in Poland. Since 2021, he is also a researcher at the Department of Neurology at the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, Faculty of Medical Sciences. He is a member of the Polish Society of Neurology and the Polish Society of Extrapyramidal Disorders. His scientific interests include neurodegenerative diseases, the role of metabolic disorders in neurodegeneration, and neurogenetics. He is also the author of several book chapters and papers published in peer-reviewed journals. He is the co-author of the educational software "Virtual Clinic" intended for medical students and doctors, a solution using artificial intelligence algorithms in teaching medical interviewing, diagnosis and treatment planning. In his clinical practice, he works with neurologic patients, with strong emphasis on neurodegenerative disorders. He is actively involved in process of introducing newly approved neurological medications into the clinical proactice in Poland. He also has experience in clinical trials concerning Parkinson's disease, multiple system atrophy, frontotemporal dementia, and migraine.
Przemysława Jarosz-Chobot, MD. PhD, Head of the Department of Pediatric Diabetology and Lifestyle Medicine at the Medical University of Silesia, is a Polish diabetologist and renowned specialist; her main research interests are diabetes in children and young adults, new technologies in diabetes care and treatment, and epidemiology. She is a participant in international scientific studies, including EURODIAB, Epidemiology of type 1 diabetes mellitus in EuropeINNODIA, Translational Approaches to Disease Modifying Therapy in Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM)EDENT1FI, European Action for the Diagnosis of Early Non-clinical Type 1 Diabetes For Disease Interception. She is an active member of societies and study groups, i.e., ISPAD, Diabetes Poland, and Hvidoere, as well as international and national diabetes guidelines writing groups. She has been a lecturer for several courses, workshops, and international scientific conferences, and she is an expert in the diabetology field.
Agnieszka Gorzkowska, M.D., Ph.D., consultant neurologist,
Medical University of Silesia, Poland. The post-doctoral degree (habilitation),
dissertation “Variability of physical activity level in Parkinson’s disease in
the context of the disease determinants, clinical implications and effects”.
Present areas of interest: Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, aging,
migraine and stroke. An author and co-author of numerous full-text
peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. Experienced researcher in
clinical trials reg. MCI, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis,
and migraines.
