Author Biographies

Dinesh Thapa is an innovative cannabinoid research scientist and pharmacist, currently pursuing his PhD in Biomedical Sciences at Curtin University, Australia (2021–current). With a passion for unlocking the medical potential of cannabis, he has been at the forefront of cannabinoid research since 2011. Dinesh holds an MSc in Pharmacology from Dalhousie University, Canada. During his Master’s studies, he explored the antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory effects of phytocannabinoids and synthetic cannabinoids in ocular pain and inflammation. His expertise expanded while working at Panag Pharma, a cannabinoid-focused pharmaceutical company in Nova Scotia, Canada, where he contributed to cutting-edge drug development projects. He has studied the role of diverse cannabis cultivars in treating various diseases, championing Nepal’s rich cannabis heritage in global conversations. Dinesh is delving into the pharmacological effects of cannabis and cannabinoids on gastrointestinal diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes, and obesity in his PhD. Dinesh also shares his knowledge as an educator. He teaches an online course at the International College of Cannabinoid Medicine, exploring the history and multidimensional uses of cannabis in Nepal. A proud advocate for accessible medicine and a self-described global citizen, Dinesh is shaping the future of cannabinoid therapeutics through research, education, and collaboration.
