Prof. Sajjad Hussain is a Professor of Information Engineering at the James Watt School of Engineering. He currently serves as a Program Director, Electronic and Electrical Engineering with Information Engineering, at Glasgow College UESTC. He is the Academic Champion for £5M University of Glasgow EON-XR Centre. He previously served as an Associate Professor at the Electrical Engineering Department, Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST), Islamabad, Pakistan. He obtained his Master’s degree in Wireless Communications in 2006 from Supelec, Gif-sur-Yvette and his PhD degree in Signal Processing and Communications in 2009 from the University of Rennes 1, Rennes, France. He is an Associate Editore IEEE Access. He is also a two-time recipient of the College of Science and Engineering, University of Glasgow Teaching Excellence Award (2020 & 2024). He is the College of Science and Engineering Retention & Transition Lead.
Dr. Ahmed Zoha earned his PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in July 2014 from the University of Surrey (UniS), UK, and his MSc degree in Communication Engineering from Chalmers University, Sweden. From 2013 to 2016, he served as a lead research scientist at Qatar Mobility Innovation Center (QMIC) on a Quality Aware Self-Organizing network (QSON) project worth $1.45 million that focuses on designing AI-driven algorithms for making future cellular systems scalable, adaptive and stable. His research work is centered around a broad range of machine learning applications spanning 5G and beyond network optimization, human behavior modeling for clinical interventions, non-intrusive load monitoring, and he strongly advocates for the use of AI for social good. His research has been cited by national and international bodies, regulators, the media and he has also received two IEEE Best Paper awards. What is more, he has been a member of the technical program committees of several IEEE flagship conferences and a technical reviewer for several IEEE and top-notch journals. He has contributed to organizing several IEEE conferences, workshops, and special sessions.
