Dr. Francesca Ribas is an associate professor at the Physics department of the Universitat Politècnica de
Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain). She is a researcher on coastal morphodynamics, including sediment transport, waves and currents, with the goal of increasing the presently limited predictive capacity of mathematical models and unveil the future of our fragile and valuable coastal systems. She has studied the development of nearshore bars and megacusps, shoreline sand waves and meganourishments, as well as large-scale coastal evolution under a changing climate. She uses both numerical morphodynamic models and remote sensing (video systems and satellites).
