Author Biographies

Rob Chapman holds a BSc and MSc in Minerals Engineering (University of Birmingham) and a PhD in hydrometallurgy (University of Leeds). He worked in gold,and platinum mining in South Africa before starting research into the mineralogy of native gold. Collaborations with the British Geological Survey, the Minerals Deposit Research Unit at the University of British Columbia, The Yukon and Alaskan Geological Surveys and Geosciences BC have generated numerous outputs establishing the potential for gold compositional studies to inform both ore deposit processes and focussed exploration programs both for gold itself and other genetically associated minerals. He was the co PI of the ores and Mineralization Group at Leeds between 2015 and 2024, during which time he supervised 10 PhD projects. he has undertaken various consultancies and and advisory role with the National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
