Abuduwaili Abulikemu is an Associate Professor at the College of Geography and Remote Sensing Sciences, Xinjiang University, Urumqi, China. He received his bachelor's degree in Atmospheric Science from Nanjing University in 2010 and received his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from the same university in 2016. He started working at Xinjiang University as a Lecturer in 2016 and was named an Associate Professor in 2020. His research fields include meso- and microscale meteorology, mechanisms of extreme weather (severe convection, torrential rain, snowstorms, etc.) occurrence and development, and numerical simulation.

Junqiang Yao is a Researcher and Deputy Director at the Institute of Desert Meteorology, China Meteorological Administration (CMA), Urumqi, China. He received his MSc in Physical Geography from Xinjiang Normal University in 2012 and his PhD in Geography from the Joint PhD of Xinjiang University and Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography in 2015. He worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Ecology at the Xinjiang University and Institute of Desert Meteorology of CMA from 2015 to 2019. His research interests include climate and climate systems in arid zones, atmospheric moisture cycle processes in arid zones, ecological and hydrological impacts of climate change, diagnosis, mechanisms and prognosis of extreme climate change, assessment of airborne water resource potentials, and mountain meteorology.
