Dr. Feng Zhou is a senior expert in physical oceanography in the Second Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources (SIOMNR) and an adjunct professor in the joint program between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and SIOMNR. He obtained his BS in oceanography from the Ocean University of China in 2000, his MS in physical oceanography at the Second Institute of Oceanography State Oceanic Administration in 2003, and his PhD in fluid mechanics from Zhejiang University in 2011. His research includes ocean dynamics, numerical modelling, physical–biogeochemical interactions, coastal hypoxia and observing system design. He is the founder of the marine field station MORSE, which focuses on the Yangtze River Estuary and adjacent coastal regions. He is the executive director of the national key lab of Satellite Ocean Environment Dynamics, SIOMNR and the chief scientist of the Ocean Decade project “KEES” and Joint Advanced Marine and Ecological Studies (JAMES).
