Stefka Atanassova is a Professor in the Department of Physics at Trakia University, Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. She received her master’s degree in physics from Plovdiv University, Bulgaria, in 1979 and her PhD in 1992 with ‘Application of Near-infrared spectroscopy for estimation of feeding values of forages”. She completed her specialization at Kobe University from 1997 to 1998. Her research interests include near-infrared spectroscopy, the application of NIRS for the determination of chemical composition and nutrition value of different feed and forages, analyses of soil, meat, milk, and dairy products, diagnosis of mastitis in cows, detection of bacterial contamination of bio-fluid and food products, and the aquaphotomics approach in food analysis.
