Dr. Andrea Romano is the Group Leader of the Maastricht Endometrium Research Group. He is an Associate Professor at the School for Oncology and Reproduction in the Faculty of Health, Medicine, and Life Sciences, Maastricht University, Maastricht, The Netherlands. He is the Coordinator of the Special Interest Group for Endometriosis and Endometrial Disorders (ESHRE) and Chair-Elect of the ENITEC (European Network for Individualised Treatment of Endometrial Cancer). He focused on molecular and cellular biology. His research interests focus on the role of steroid hormone signaling in gynecological disorders, both benign and malignant.
Dr. Sofia Xanthoulea is a Senior Researcher at the School for Oncology and Reproduction in the Faculty of Health, Medicine, and Life Sciences, Maastricht University, Maastricht, The Netherlands. Dr. Xanthoulea holds a degree in Biology from the University of Bologna, Italy, and a Ph.D. in Medicine from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. She was a post-doctoral fellow at Maastricht University and the University of Cologne, Germany, from 2004 to 2008 and in 2009, separately. Her expertise lies in the fields of inflammation, immunity, and mouse models of disease and her current research focuses on endometrial cancer, endometrial organoids, and the development of mouse models of endometrial cancer.
