Dr. Balaram Kundu is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Jadavpur University since January 2014. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the Regional Engineering College (at present NIT) Durgapur, India, in 1993, his Master’s degree from Bengal Engineering College (at present IIEST), Deemed University, India, in 1995, and his Ph.D. from IIT Kharagpur, India, in 2000. He worked as a Lecturer at the Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College from April 1998 to January 2003. He joined Jadavpur University as a Senior Lecturer in 2003 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2011. His research area includes biological heat transfer, non-Fourier analysis, microchannel heat sinks, condensation in heat transfer, combined heat and mass transfer, solar collectors, thermal insulation, fin-and-tube heat exchangers, individual fins and fin arrays, heat transfer through a porous medium, analytical heat transfer, optimization, etc. He is also a member of the Institute of Engineers (India), the Combustion Institute (India), and the International Association of Engineers. He worked as a Research Professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Hanyang University, Seoul, from January 2010 to October 2012 under the Brain Korea 21 Program. After this program, he was offered the opportunity to join different institutes in India and abroad as a scientist faculty member. He has been one of the top 2% of scientists worldwide, published by Stanford University since 2020.
