Author Biographies

Sihan Zhang received his Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture from Nanjing Forestry University in 2020, and is now pursuing a Master’s Degree in Philosophy at Chiba University. His research topics mainly include landscape planning, disaster risk reduction, citizen involvement, and ecosystem service.
Dr. Wang is a Specially Appointed Assistant Professor at the Institute for Excellence in Educational Innovation, Chiba University. She earned her Ph.D. in Landscape Planning from Chiba University and currently serves as an Academic Advisor for the STELLA Program ASCENT-6E. Her teaching areas include regional planning and landscape architecture, with a research focus on rural planning and tourism.
Prudens Naura Afzelia received her Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from IPB University, Indonesia, in 2021, and her Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from Chiba University, Japan, in 2024. Her research topics mainly include landscape design, landscape planning, and urban green open space.
Yan Tang received her Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture from Fuzhou University in 2022, and is now pursuing a Master’s Degree in Philosophy at Chiba University. Her research topics mainly include cultural landscapes, development of future scenarios, sustainability, and community gardens and public participation.
Yilan Xie graduated from Sichuan Agricultural University with a Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture in 2023. She began pursuing her Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture at Chiba University’s Graduate School of Horticulture in 2024. Her research focuses on urban green spaces, pocket parks, cultural ecosystem services, and environmental justice.
Jing Zhang received her Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from Southeast University (China) in 2022, and has been awarded 3rd prize at the national level in the Yuanye Cup Design Competition. She is now a student at Chiba University, pursuing her Master’s Degree in Landscape. Her research topics mainly include flood resilience, polder, social network analysis, and remote sensing.
Yusuke Matsuyama received his Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture from Chiba University in 2024, and is now pursuing a Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture at the Graduate School of Horticulture, Chiba University. His research interests include landscape planning, landscape ecology, and landscape perception.
Katsunori Furuya holds a Ph.D. from Chiba University and is a professor at the Graduate School of Horticulture at Chiba University. To date, he has published over 100 papers in Landscape and Urban Planning, Forest Policy and Economics, Urban and Regional Planning Review, the Journal of Tropical Forest Management, and Landscape Research. In addition, he has contributed to six books, including two books as the editor-in-chief. His research interests include landscape planning, landscaping history, green evaluation, urban green space, landscape theory, environmental education, nature experience, eco-tourism, nature conservation, and national parks. He was the Kanto (Tokyo metropolitan) branch president of the Japanese Institute of Landscape Architecture from April 2014 to March 2016 and a representative with a term of office lasting from April 2016 to March 2018 at the Japan Geoscience Union.
