Dr. Nabiha Yusuf is a Professor in the Department of Dermatology at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She is also affiliated with the department of Epidemiology. She received her MS in Microbiology and PhD in Immunology from India. She graduated with an MSPH degree in Epidemiology from UAB. The focus of her research is to dissect the role of innate immune responses in ultraviolet (UV) B induced cutaneous DNA damage and tumor development. Her laboratory established the role of Toll-like receptor-4 in UVB-induced immune responses and skin cancer, and has performed translational studies on TLR4 inhibitor (TAK242) in prevention of skin cancer. Her goal is to perform epidemiological studies with correlative biomarkers in population with inflammatory diseases and cancers.
