Author Biographies

Rachel H. Luong, MS, RD is a team sports dietitian at the University of Minnesota with the women's basketball team. Prior to joining the Golden Gophers, she was the Gatorade Sports Nutrition Immersion Program (SNIP) fellow at the University of Pittsburgh, working with men's and women's cross-country, women's lacrosse, baseball, and assisting football. She earned a concurrent BS/MS in diet and exercise from Iowa State University, and completed her dietetic internship through the University of Indianapolis.
Donna M. Winham, DrPH, RD, MCHES  is an Associate Professor in Food Science and Human Nutrition at Iowa State University. Her research focuses on ways to develop or to preserve positive dietary habits, especially bean consumption, with the goals of improved health, food security, and retention of cultural traditions. She received a BS in Biology from Keene State College, an MA in Anthropology from the University of Arizona, and her DrPH in Community Health Sciences from the UCLA School of Public Health.  She is a Master Certified Health Education Specialist, and a Registered Dietitian.
Dr. Mack C. Shelley, II is a University Professor in the Departments of Statistics and Political Science, and in the School of Education, at Iowa State University, where he has been since 1979. Since coming to Iowa State, he has served as Director of the Research Institute for Studies in Education, Director of Graduate Education in Political Science, Chair of the Department of Political Science, and Faculty Fellow for the Department Chair Professional Development in the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost. He received his BA in Economics and International Studies from American University in 1972, an MS in Economics in 1973, and a Ph.D. in Political Science in 1977 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research, teaching, and grants activity focuses on applications of statistical methods to the study of public policy in areas including education, aging and disability, health, biotechnology, transportation, the environment, and juvenile justice.
Abigail A. Glick is a Research Associate in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at Iowa State University.  She has experience providing nutrition and behavioral modification counseling, survey development, and data analysis.  Her research interests include public health nutrition, behavior change, and the influences of the gut microbiome on health.  She has a B.S. in Dietetics from Iowa State University.
