Prof. Wanxia Ren is currently an Associate Researcher at the Shenyang Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. She is also the Deputy Head of the Industrial Ecology Group and the Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Environmental Computing and Sustainable Development of Liaoning Province. She received a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Northeastern University in 2000, a master’s degree in Engineering from Northeastern University in 2005, and a Ph.D. from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2008. In the same year, she joined the Industrial Ecology Group at the Shenyang Institute of Applied Ecology as an assistant researcher. In January 2015, she became the Deputy Head of the Industrial Ecology Research Group and was promoted to Associate Researcher in January 2016. Her research focuses primarily on industrial ecology, urban environmental policy and management, synergy methodology, and regional sustainable development.
Prof. Xiaobin Dong currently serves as a professor at the College of Resources, Beijing Normal University. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Agronomy from the Agricultural University of Hebei in 1997 and 2000, respectively, and obtained his Ph.D. from the College of Agronomy and Biotechnology at China Agricultural University in 2003. In 2002, he also conducted collaborative research at the International Botanical Institute in the Netherlands. From 2003 to 2005, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the School of Resources, Beijing Normal University. From 2009 to 2010, he was a visiting scholar at the H.T. Odum Center for Environmental Policy Research at the University of Florida. He is a member of the Tillage Systems Division of the Chinese Society of Agriculture and a member of the International Energy Value Society. His research interests include ecosystem services and human well-being, systems ecology, industrial ecology and regional sustainable development, as well as macro-agriculture and ecological-productive paradigm studies.
