Joyce Wang is a current medical student at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 2022 with a B.S. in Molecular & Cellular Biology and a B.A. in the History of Science, Medicine, and Technology. Her research interests include stem cell and organoid technology, experimental ophthalmology, retinal transplantation, and the intersection between climate change and the healthcare sector.
Shiladitya DasSarma, PhD is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, School of Medicine, and the Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology, University System of Maryland. He has published over 160 scientific papers on topics ranging from microbial genomics to vaccine development against tropical diseases to the impacts of climate change on medicine and the environment. He founded and serves as the course director for CIPP650, “Climate Change, Health, and Society,” an interprofessional elective course for medical, law, and science students at the University of Maryland. He is also Founder and President of MACA, MIT Alumni for Climate Action, member of the Board of Directors for Climate-XChange, and a Climate Leader for Climate Reality led by Vice President Al Gore.
