Mauro Callejas-Cuervo is a Systems Engineer and Doctor of Applied Science from the Antonio Nariño University. He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the TEC Monterrey-Mexico and a Ph.D. in Energy and Process Control from the University of Oviedo, Spain. At present, he is a tenured professor in the Faculty of Engineering and Director of the Research Group in Software at the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia. From 2005 to 2013, he was editor of the Journal of the Faculty of Engineering (ISSN 0121-1129) at the same university. Doctor Callejas-Cuervo has published a large number of articles in scientific journals and has taken part in many specialized events. He is the director and main researcher in innovation and technological development projects in the area of health and sports. His research interests include projects on inertial and magnetic microsensors in rehabilitation and development of active videogames and intelligent systems. In addition, his interests include technology-associated wearable devices and biomedical engineering. In August 2017, Professor Callejas-Cuervo was awarded the SCIENTIST MEDAL FOR THE YEAR 2017, in the field of Advanced Materials Science and Technology, by the International Association of Advanced Materials. Also, Professor Callejas-Cuervo has been invited to give keynote speeches at universities such as the University of Manchester and University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, and others in America and Europe.
