Prof. Dr. Marjeta Čandek-Potoka graduated in Animal Science and defended her Ph.D. in food science. She is a researcher at the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia, her main area of research being the quality of animal products as related to rearing factors or production systems. Current research topics comprise (i) research on the local Krškopolje pig breed, (ii) castration issues (boar taint, immunocastration, nutrition, product quality), (iii) dry cured products, (iv) developments in carcass classification, and (v) the use of NIRS for meat quality assessment. During her career, she was a leader in 10 national projects, was a coordinator of the H2020 project TREASURE, and participated in many EU projects (EUPIGCLASS, YOUNG-TRAIN, PIGCAS, TRUEFOOD, COST FAIM, COST IPEMA, ERA-NET SuSI, and GERONIMO). She is also established at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences as a lecturer on the technology of animal products. She has authored over 80 peer-reviewed scientific papers, book chapters, professional articles, and conference contributions.
