Dr. Francesco Barbadori is a Geologist and a mountain lover. During his university studies, he expanded his interests in geomorphology, geotechnics, and applied geophysics in order to understand Earth dynamics and the dynamics behind the occurrence of natural phenomena, in particular, landslides. His PhD project is focused on understanding soil erosion mechanisms and effects using multidisciplinary methods (remote sensing and field survey data) in order to develop an innovative approach for the calculation of soil erosion as a predisposing factor of mass movements.
Prof. Federico Raspini is an Associate Professor of physical geography and geomorphology at the Earth Sciences Department of the University of Florence. He received a bachelor’s degree in earth sciences in 2006 and a master’s degree in earth sciences in 2008, both at the University of Florence. He received a Ph.D. in earth sciences in 2013 at the University of Florence with a thesis on the interpretation of satellite radar data for the mapping, monitoring and modelling of hydrogeological-induced ground deformations. He has been a Visiting Researcher at the National Technical University of Athens since 2012. His research currently focuses on the use of radar interferometric techniques (both space-borne and ground-based) for the detection, characterization and monitoring of geohazards. He has been involved in several international projects funded by ESA and the EU. He is currently involved in EU-funded projects, in national initiatives with the Italian Civil Protection Department and in several projects with local authorities, dealing with the prediction and prevention of slope movements.
