He graduated in Medicine in 1979 and became a  Doctor of Medicine in 1985 at the University of Seville. He has a diploma in Epidemiological Research 2010 from the University of Granada. He is a Primary Care Family Physician (1990-2024) and a  Full Member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Seville (2021), and belongs to the CIBER-OBN research network of the Carlos III Health Institute (Health Ministry-Spain).
