Junior Cesar Avanzi is Associate Professor at the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA). He is a permanent professor of the Graduate Program in Soil Science (PPGCS/UFLA) and the Graduate Program in Environmental Technologies and Innovations (PPGTIA/UFLA). He is a sub-leader of the CNPq Research Group "Pedology and Environmental Quality" since 2018. He is one of the responsible parties for the YouTube and Instagram channel "Entusiastas do Solo" since May 2020. He is a member of the Collegiate of the Graduate Program in Soil Science since 2023. He has been deputy Head of the Department of Soil Science (DCS) since July 2024. He was an Agricultural Technician from the Federal Institute of Southern Minas - Inconfidentes Campus (1997). He holds a B.S. Agricultural Engineer from the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA) (2003), a Master in Soils and Plant Nutrition from UFLA (2005), and a PhD in Soil Science from UFLA (2009), with training at Purdue University / National Soil Erosion Research Laboratory - USA (2008-2009). He has experience in the area of Soil Science, mainly working with the following themes: soil and water conservation; physical-hydraulic characterization of soils; land use capacity; erosion modeling; and valuation of ecosystem services.
