Prof. Dr. Hasan Demirel received his PhD (1998) and MSc (1993) from Imperial College London and King's College London, respectively, after graduating from the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of Eastern Mediterranean University in 1992. He joined the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department at Eastern Mediterranean University as an Assistant Professor in 2000. He was appointed as Associate Professor in 2009 and Professor in 2014. He served as the Chairman of the Department from 2014 to 2020 and was the Deputy Director of the Advanced Technologies Research and Development Institute. Furthermore, he served as a member of the Executive Council of the Eastern Mediterranean University’s Technopark. From 2020 to 2023, he served as the acting Rector and Provost of Eastern Mediterranean University. His main research is in the field of artificial intelligence and image processing. He is currently involved in many research activities related to artificial intelligence for biomedical image processing.
