Dr. Guney Mert Bilgin is a Technical Lead in Additive Manufacturing at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), University of Sheffield, UK. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul, Turkey. Dr. Bilgin has been dedicated to the field of additive manufacturing since 2014, when he commenced his M.Sc. studies at the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey. He earned his Ph.D. from METU in 2024, with a thesis entitled “Optimisation Studies on the Secondary Treatments and Mechanical Behaviour of Ti48Al2Cr2Nb Alloy Produced by Electron Beam Melting (EBM) Method”. From 2017 to 2024, Dr. Bilgin worked as a lead engineer at Tusas Engine Industries (TEI) Inc., where he led R&D projects in metal additive manufacturing and gained extensive hands-on experience with both laser- and electron-beam powder bed fusion technologies. In March 2024, he joined AMRC, where he focuses on large-scale AM projects and material characterisation.
