Dr. Andra Oros is a senior scientist at the National Institute for Marine Research and Development "Grigore Antipa" Constanta, Romania, Department of Chemical Oceanography and Marine Pollution. In 2009, she completed her PhD studies on Ecology and Environment Protection at the "Ovidius" University Constanta. Dr. Oros is an expert in monitoring and assessment of marine pollution and the effects of heavy metal pollution on the marine ecosystem. She is the coordinator of the integrated marine monitoring program, starting in 2009 and a member of the NIMRD working group for Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) implementation responsible for Descriptor 8 and a member of the working team for Descriptor 9, starting in 2012. She is an Expert nominated as the National Focal Point and a member of the Advisory Group for Pollution Monitoring and Assessment (AG - PMA) of the Black Sea Commission (Istanbul, Turkey) since 2009 and an Expert nominated in the group established in 2014 at the level of the European Commission/Joint Research Centre (JRC), Italy: MSFD Expert Network on Contaminants, as part of the common implementation strategy of the Marine Environment Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD), in order to solve technical and scientific issues related to the application of Descriptors 8 and 9 (Contaminants) for assessing good environmental status in European seas.
