Dr. Fumiya Akasaka is a senior researcher at the Human Augmentation Research Center, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Japan. He received his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in engineering from the Tokyo Metropolitan University in 2009, 2011, and 2014, respectively. He was a JSPS Research Fellowship for Young Scientist DC1 (2011-2014). From 2014 to 2021, he was a researcher at the NTT lab. He is also the visiting associate professor at the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) and the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. His research interests include living labs, service design, co-design, participatory design, and design methodology.
Dr. Kentaro Watanabe is a team leader at the Human Augmentation Research Center, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Tokyo. He received his B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, in 2003 and 2005, respectively, and he received his Dr.Eng. degree from Tokyo Metropolitan University, Tokyo, in 2012. Dr. Kentaro Watanabe was a visiting researcher with the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Ltd. (2016–2017). He was a board member of the Society for Serviceology (2018-2023). He is also engaged in standardization activities from the service design perspective in ISO/TC 159 (ergonomics) and TC 324 (sharing economy). His research domains are service engineering, design, and innovation. He is specifically interested in technology integration and digitalization in service systems.
Dr. Yuri Nishikawa works at the Digital Architecture Research Center, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). She received her bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in engineering from the Faculty of Science and Technology, Keio University, in 2006, 2008, and 2011, respectively. From April 2011 to September 2021, she was a researcher at Panasonic. She has been a senior researcher at AIST since October 2021. Her research interests include system architecture, parallel and distributed computing, service applications, and HRI/HAI.
Dr. Jun Ozawa works at the Digital Architecture Research Center, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). He received a Ph.D. degree in system science from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Yokohama, Japan, in 1998. He received the second Ph.D. degree in economics from Osaka Prefecture University, Osaka, Japan, in 2012. From 1990 to 2020, he was a basic engineering researcher at Panasonic. Since 2021, he has been a research manager at AIST. His research interests include machine learning and its industrial applications in smart cities.
