Sanjay Sharma is an Associate Professor of intelligent autonomous control systems and PGR coordinator at the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics (SECAM), Faculty of Science and Engineering, University of Plymouth, UK. He is also the Head of the Autonomous Marine Systems (AMS) Research Group, formerly known as the Marine and Industrial Dynamic Analysis (MIDAS) Research Group, SECAM, University of Plymouth. He completed his Ph.D. in systems and control engineering at the University of Sheffield and his Master of Technology degree with distinction in control systems (electrical engineering) at the Institute of Technology-BHU (IT-BHU), India. He is also a board member of the IMechE (Institution of Mechanical Engineers) Mechatronics, Informatics & Control Group, a member of IFAC TC 7.5 on Intelligent Autonomous Vehicles, and the AMS representative to UKACC (United Kingdom Automatic Control Council).
Mario Gianni is a Senior Lecturer in robotics and autonomous systems at the School of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science, University of Liverpool, UK. From August 2021 until January 2023, he was an Associate Professor of robotics in the School of Engineering, Computing, and Mathematics at the University of Plymouth, UK. He completed his Ph.D. and M.Sc. at Sapienza University of Rome, Italy. Before his current role, he worked at the University of Plymouth as a Lecturer in computer science and robotics from 2017 to 2021. From 2015 to 2017, he was an Assistant Professor at DIAG, Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, and a member of the ALCOR Lab. He has published over 30 academic papers and served as a peer reviewer and as a committee member for several international journals and conferences in the field of robotics, including SSRR, Autonomous Robots, IROS, ICRA, and the Journal of Field Robotics.
