Tomas Hrncir, M.D., Ph.D., is a Research Scientist at the Department of Gnotobiology, Institute of Microbiology, Czech Academy of Sciences, where he has been conducting research since 2000. He received his M.D. from Charles University's 2nd Faculty of Medicine in 1998 and earned his Ph.D. in Immunology from the Czech Academy of Sciences in 2008. Dr. Hrncir's research focuses on gut microbiota, immune system regulation, and their roles in various diseases, particularly autoimmune and metabolic disorders. His work has garnered over 4,000 citations, with influential publications in leading journals including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and Cell Host & Microbe. He has held several prestigious positions and currently serves as Vice-Chairman of the Ethics Committee for Clinical Studies and an evaluation panel member for the Czech Science Foundation. A member of multiple professional societies including the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and the International Society for Computational Biology, Dr. Hrncir leads groundbreaking research projects investigating the impact of food preservatives on human gut microbiota and the role of microbiota in disease pathogenesis.
