Dr Tsolanku Sidney Maliehe is currently a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of
Water and Sanitation at the University of Limpopo. He holds a PhD degree in
Microbiology obtained from the University of Zululand. He was also a post-doctoral
fellow in the same institution. His interests are in the application of secondary
metabolites from endophytes and plants to the treatment of infections. He is also
involved in the determination of water quality, treatment of wastewater, and
evaluation of antimicrobial resistance in waterborne and foodborne pathogens.
He has several publications on these topics in different accredited journals.
Miss Nelisiwe Mavingo is a final year BSc student in the Department of Water and
Sanitation at the University of Limpopo. Her coursework includes modules in hydrology,
environmental engineering, public health, and water quality management. She
attended junior school at Tikhontele Secondary School in Mpumalanga, South
Africa.
Dr TN Selepe is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Water and Sanitation at the
University of Limpopo. His focus project is in water microbiology, a field he
has dearly embraced and is active in conducting groundbreaking research. He is one
of the active pioneers of water purification using bioflocculants. He is a qualified Microbiologist
with a Doctor of Philosophy degree (Microbiology), which he obtained from the University
of Zululand. He also obtained a Master of Science degree and a Bachelor of
Science degree (Honours) in Microbiology at the same institution. He holds a Bachelor
of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of Limpopo, a
certificate in Business Administration from Vaal University of Technology, and
a National Higher Diploma (NHD) in Microbiology from the University of Johannesburg
(Wits Technikon). He has supervised fifteen BSc (Honours) students to completion.
He is currently supervising seven (7) MSc students and one PhD student. He has
previously worked at the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology at the
University of Zululand as a Microbiology Lecturer. Prior to working at the
academic institutions, he worked at different companies in South Africa, including Golden Wheat (Project Consultant), Air Chefs, South African Airways (SAA) (Quality Assurance Manager), Lottec Game Africa (Field Account Manager), National Brands LTD (Projects Coordinator), and Johannesburg City Council
(Technical Officer).
Peter Masoko is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and
Biotechnology in the School of Molecular and Life Sciences. He is currently a Research Professor in the Faculty of Science and Agriculture. He holds a BSc (Medical Sciences) (Honours equivalent) and an MSc in Microbiology from the University of the North (now Limpopo). His PhD was awarded by the University of Pretoria in the Department of Paraclinical Sciences. He is a registered Natural Scientist with Professional Natural Scientist and Royal Society of South Africa.
