Dr. Amin Mahmood Thawabteh has been an Assistant Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at Birzeit University since 2019. He obtained a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology from the University of Basilicata in Italy par excellence in 2018. The following year, Dr. Thawabteh was awarded the prize of Applied Research and Creative Ideas for the best medical research in Palestine. In the same year, he was awarded for being part of the most active scientific research group in Palestine as well. Dr. Thawabteh worked for over five years as a Research Assistant at Al-Quds University and the University of Basilicata in the drug discovery and photochemistry labs and has carried out various research projects in the fields of drug development and water treatment throughout his academic and professional career. Through his connections with local and Italian pharmaceutical factories and research centers in Italian and European universities, he is able to propose creative ideas in organic chemistry, industries, and pharmaceutical analysis that generate financial support. Furthermore, Dr. Thawabteh has a record of published research in international journals with Q1 and Q2 rankings in the fields of natural product phytoconstituents, environmental treatments, and drug design.
