Katalin Parti is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Virginia Tech. She has a JD in Law, an MA in Sociology, an MS in Criminal Justice, and a PhD in Criminal Justice. A Fulbright and Max Planck Scholar, her scholarship spans across cybercrime victimization and offending, with special regard to vulnerable groups such as young people, older individuals, and international students. She ha published over 60 scholarly articles, reports, and book chapters, and is the editor/author of five books. Her passion is connecting research with pedagogical epistemologies and community-focused research.

Judit Szabó is a legal scholar and psychologist with a focus on sexual offending, crime prevention, and themes at the intersection of criminal law and psychology. She has been working as a researcher at the National Institute of Criminology in Budapest, Hungary, since 2010, and was appointed as a senior research fellow in 2016. In 2024, she was nominated as a member of the management board of the Hungarian Society of Criminology. She holds a PhD in legal sciences from Eötvös Loránd University, where she also received her MA in psychology and her JD in law. Her dissertation dealt with the correctionalist approach to special prevention in the Hungarian prison system in the context of the concept of desistance from crime. Over the years, Szabó has contributed to the field of criminology and legal sciences through her involvement in several research projects pertaining to various aspects of the criminal justice system. Her research delves into complex issues such as the efficacy of offender rehabilitation programs in Hungarian prison settings, the impact of personality disorders on criminal liability, and the criminological and psychological background of sexual offending, including the sexual abuse of children. Continuing previous work from 2019, her current research project focuses on recent changes in the national regulation and the judicial practice of the criminal offence of child pornography with special regard to juvenile perpetrators.
