Author Biographies

Corina Marilena Cristache, DDS, earned her dental degree in 1991 and MD in 1999 from the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest, where she also completed her PhD in Dental Sciences in 2001 and obtained her Dr. Habil in 2018. She is a specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Implantology and a Professor at the “Carol Davila” University, while also owning a private practice in Bucharest. In 2001-2002, she pursued postdoctoral training in dental implant surgery at the University of Florida, Gainesville, USA, funded by the International Team for Implantology, followed by a Prosthodontic Fellowship at the same university. Dr. Cristache (https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6635-6091) has published over 100 scientific papers, authored or co-authored more than 20 books and chapters, and has been an invited speaker at numerous national and international congresses. Her h-indexes are 14 (Web of Science), 21 (Google Scholar), and 16 (Scopus), and she has completed over 100 peer reviews (WOS verified). In 2023, she secured a national patent. She led two international MANUNET-ERANET grants and several other successful research projects. Her research focuses on oral and maxillofacial surgery, implant dentistry, prosthodontics, digital dentistry, AI in healthcare, biomaterials, microbiota, and legal aspects of dental practice.
Oana Elena Burlacu Vatamanu earned her first Bachelor's Degree in Dental Technology from the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest, in 2016. Driven by her passion to broaden her clinical expertise, she pursued a second Bachelor's Degree in Dental Medicine, which she completed in 2021 at the same institution. Since 2022, she has been enrolled in a Residency Program in General Dentistry, where she continues to enhance her skills across a wide range of dental procedures. Alongside her clinical training, Oana is currently a PhD student at the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, working under the mentorship of Professor Corina Marilena Cristache. Her PhD research is focused on the development and application of the virtual patient in dentistry, with the aim of improving diagnostic and treatment planning through the integration of advanced digital technologies. As part of her PhD program, Oana participated in a fellowship at KU Leuven, Belgium, in 2024, under the guidance of Professor Reinhilde Jacobs, a leading expert in digital dentistry. This six-month fellowship with the OMFS-IMPATH research group allowed her to engage in groundbreaking research on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into the development of virtual patient models. Her main research interests include virtual patient models, artificial intelligence in dentistry, implantology, and digital dental technologies.
Cristian Corneliu Butnarasu earned his Bachelor's Degree in Dental Technology from the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest, in 2014. He further expanded his expertise by completing a Master's Degree in Biocompatible Substances, Materials, and Systems at Politehnica University of Bucharest. With a specialization in CAD/CAM systems and R2Gate Guided Surgery, Cristian has established himself as a skilled dental laboratory technician. His expertise in the digital workflow of CAD/CAM technologies enables him to deliver precise and advanced solutions in dental prosthetics and guided surgery. In addition to his technical work, Cristian is a Lecturer and Trainer in Guided Surgery, sharing his knowledge and practical experience with fellow professionals. He is also a MegaGen International Network of Education & Clinical Research (MINEC) Knight, contributing to the advancement of modern dental practices through innovative digital solutions.
Tamara Mihut is a PhD student at the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest, under the esteemed guidance of Professor Corina Marilena Cristache. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from University of Bucharest, a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Technique from the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest, a Master’s degree in Business Law from the  “Nicolae Titulescu” University of Bucharest, and a Master’s degree in Medical Law from the “Titu Maiorescu” University of Bucharest. A licensed attorney with the Bucharest Bar, România, Tamara Mihuț owns a private practice office in Bucharest, România. Her doctoral research focuses on ethical, defensive medicine practice, functional, guidelines, patient privacy, data security, consent, healthcare disparities, and legislative aspects involved in the use of AI in dentistry. She has co-authored three book chapters and published over 10 articles in prestigious international journals.
Eliza Denisa Sgîea earned her Bachelor's Degree in Dental Medicine from the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2011 and is currently pursuing a PhD in Pediatric Dentistry under the mentorship of Professor Dr. Corina Marilena Cristache. Her research focuses on the applications of artificial intelligence in pediatric dentistry, with an emphasis on innovations and clinical implications. She has worked as a pediatric dentist since 2012 and holds certifications in Pediatric Dentistry, Inhalosedation, Oral Implantology, Emergency Pediatric First Aid, Basic Life Support, and Defibrillation, among other specialized training courses. Dr. Sgiea has presented at numerous conferences, including the FDI Sustainability in Dentistry Summit (2024) and the Congress of the National Association of Pediatric Dentistry in Romania (2024). Her published research centers on artificial intelligence in pediatric dentistry, with notable works such as "Virtual Reality (VR) in Pediatric Dentistry: A New Perspective for Anxiety Management" and "Evaluation of Behaviors and Attitudes Regarding Oral Health Among Students." She has also contributed to the Smilebright Child Oral Health Pilot Programme (2024). Her research interests primarily include pediatric dentistry, preventive dentistry, the application of AI and smart devices for monitoring children's oral health, inhalosedation techniques, and digital innovations in preventive dental care, implant dentistry, and telemedicine.
