Author Biographies

Ana Maria Gonzalez, Ph.D., is an Agronomist Engineer and Doctor of Biological Sciences, serving as the Director of the Institute of Botany of the Northeast (IBONE, UNNE-CONICET) since 2019. With over 30 years of research experience, she has published more than 110 scientific papers, authored three books, and contributed to seven co-authored book chapters. Her expertise centers on plant morphology and anatomy, with a focus on vegetative and reproductive anatomy, embryology, and the anatomy of agriculturally significant plants. Ana leads multiple research projects at IBONE, fostering collaborations with national and international laboratories, and frequently presents her findings at scientific conferences worldwide. She also conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Texas, investigating holoparasite anatomy through a Fulbright-CONICET fellowship.
María Florencia Romero, Ph.D., obtained her doctorate from the Faculty of Exact, Physical, and Natural Sciences at the National University of Córdoba, Argentina. She is currently a Teaching Assistant (JTP) at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the National University of the Northeast and serves as a CONICET postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Botany of the Northeast in Corrientes. María Florencia has published eight peer-reviewed journal articles and presented eleven research abstracts at scientific conferences. Her research specializes in the morphology, anatomy, and embryology of vascular plants.
Héctor Arnaldo Sato, Ph.D., is an Agricultural Engineer with a doctorate from the National University of the Northeast, Argentina. His postdoctoral research focused on the reproductive biology of two holoparasitic plant species. Currently, he is a Full Professor of General Botany and the Director of the JUA Herbarium at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, National University of Jujuy, Argentina. Dr. Sato has authored 12 peer-reviewed journal articles and presented 39 abstracts at scientific congresses. His research centers on the reproductive anatomy and taxonomy of parasitic plants, and he leads a research project dedicated to the reproduction of holoparasitic species.
