Manolis Christofakis is Professor of Regional Development and Policy in the Department of Business Administration and Dean of the Business School of University of the Aegean (for the period 1/9/2024 to 31/8/2027). From
2004 to 2015, he was a faculty member of the Department of Economic and
Regional Development of Panteion University at Athens. He has published
books and scientific articles in refereed journals (such as the journals
Sustainable Development, Transport Policy, Local Economy, European
Transport Research Review, Journal of Property Investment and Finance and
Review of Urban and Regional Development Studies), collective volumes and
conference proceedings, on regional and local economic development, regional
policy and economic planning, transport economics and policy, innovation
strategy, tourism development, location of entrepreneurial activities, local
productive systems, entrepreneurial clusters, etc.
Dr. Eleni
Gaki is an associate professor with expertise in "Statistical Methods in
Regional Analysis" in the Department of Business Administration at the
University of the Aegean. She is a graduate of the Department of Business
Administration at the University of the Aegean and holds a doctoral degree in
Economics and Regional Analysis with the title "The Impact of Transport
Networks and Geographic Discontinuities on Regional Development" from the
same department. Since her appointment as a lecturer in the Department of
Business Administration at the University of the Aegean in 2010, she has taught
a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Regional
Analysis Methods, Statistics, Data Analysis, Sustainable Development, Economic
Geography, Business Location, and Research Methodology. She has been involved
in 18 research programs. Her research interests revolve around fundamental
issues in regional development, with an emphasis on the use of statistical
methods and techniques for its study. Specifically, her focus is on topics such
as regional resilience, sustainable development, smart city studies, the impact
of transportation and information and communication technologies on regional
development, spatial analysis of economic activities, and spatial behaviour of
sectors such as tourism.
