Shishuai Yan received his Master's degree in Marine Geology from the First Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources in 2021. In 2019, he participated in a Western Pacific Ocean cruise. He is pursuing a PhD at Hohai University (2021–present). His study is now focusing on the tectono-magmatic evolution of the Yap subduction zone.
Quanshu Yan received his phD in Seafloor Petrology from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2008. He works as a Professor at the First Institute of Oceanography, the Ministry of Natural Resources of China (2008–present). In 2009, he moved to the Scripps Institution of Oceanology at UCSD and was promoted to a post-doc position in 2010. His research topics mainly include subduction zones, back-arc basins, intraplate processes, mid-oceanic ridges, magmatic processes, geochemistry, petrogenesis, mantle plumes, ridge-hotspot interaction, and plateau-subduction interaction.
