Prof. Bikash Ranjan Pattnaik, a fellow of ARVO, received a BSc and an MSc in
Life Science from Sambalpur University in 1987 and 1989, respectively. He
received a Ph.D. in Biophysics from the University of Delhi in 1999. He is a
tenured associate professor in the Division of Neonatology and Newborn Nursery within the pediatrics department, and he has a joint appointment in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual
Sciences. He is deeply committed to addressing the challenges that affect young
people’s sight. Taking this passion further, he leads learning and professional development programs for the Association for Research in Vision and
Ophthalmology and the International Society for Eye Research. He interacts with
the larger UW community through his involvement in the McPherson Eye Research Institute leadership committee. He is also an active member of the
International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision (ISCEV) to adapt
and evolve visual electrophysiology in clinical practice. Building upon h
