Dr. Lilishia Gounder received her Master of Medicine in Virology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2018 and is now pursuing a PhD in Virology. Since 2019, she has worked as a clinical virologist in the Department of Virology based at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital. In her role as a pathologist for the National Health Laboratory Service and a joint lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, she has been involved in several research studies. Her research topics mainly include HIV-1 co-infections, HIV-1 drug resistance, and geospatial and big data analysis.
