Author Biographies

André Fernando Schiochet was born in Brazil in 1979. Graduated in Electrical Engineering in 2003 and obtained an M.Sc. degree in 2006, both from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Santa Catarina, Brazil, and a postgraduate degree in Equipment Engineering Electrical Applied to the Oil and Natural Gas Industry in 2009 by Petrobras University. Since 2008, he has been an equipment engineer for the Brazilian Petroleum Company (PETROBRAS). Since 2021, he has been PhD student at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, MG, Brazil. His research interests include model development, control of power and industrial systems, electrical studies, industrial generation, renewable energies, application of optimization methods, and battery energy storage systems.
Paulo Roberto Duailibe Monteiro graduated in Electrical Engineering from the Catholic University of Petrópolis (1977), a master’s degree in production engineering (1996), and a PhD in Civil Engineering (2016) from the Fluminense Federal University (UFF), RJ, Brazil. He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering and a Professor of the Postgraduate Program of the Professional Master's Degree in Industrial Assembly at UFF. He was a Researcher at the Wind Energy Laboratory (LEV-UFF) until 2005, winning the National Award for Conservation and Rational Use of Electric Energy in the Public Administration Body and Companies category - PROCEL, in 2003 and 2004. He has experience in high and extra-high-voltage substation projects.

João A. Passos Filho received his B.Sc. (1995) and M.Sc. (2000) from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) and D.Sc. (2005) degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (COPPE/UFRJ). From 1997 to 2009, he worked as a researcher at the Electric Energy Research Center (CEPEL) on developing power system analysis software. Since 2009, he has been with the Department of Electrical Energy of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, MG, Brazil. His main research interests are security assessment, distributed energy resource integration, planning, and control of power systems.
Janaína Gonçalves de Oliveira has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), Brazil (2007). Doctor in technology (PhD) from the University of Uppsala, Sweden (2011). She is experienced in controlling systems and applying power electronics to renewable energy, energy storage, and real-time simulation. She worked as a Power Systems and Control researcher at GE Global Research Center in Rio de Janeiro between 2012 and 2013. Since 2014, she has worked as an adjunct professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at UFJF. Since 2022, Janaina has also worked as an associate professor at Uppsala University.
