Carlos Iván Espinosa received the Ph.D. degree from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Madrid, Spain) in 2012. Dr. Espinosa has been the Director of Ciencias Naturales at Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja since 2007. His research is mainly focused on knowing how anthropic pressures modify the structure and functioning of tropical ecosystems. He is particularly interested in understanding the degradation processes of seasonally tropical dry forests. He is a professor of ecology and experimental design at the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja in southern Ecuador. He is the PI in the Laboratory of Tropical Ecology and Ecosystem Services, Ecoss_lab.
