Ermelinda Falletta is an assistant professor (RTD-B) at the University of Milan. She is the co-founder and CEO of VisioNing SRL. After obatining her master’s degree in Chemistry at the University of Palermo, she worked as a graduate technician in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Milan. She was a fellow at the CIMAINA (Centro Interdipartimentale di Materiali e Interface Nanostrutturate) in 2005. She earned a PhD in industrial chemistry from the University of Milan in 2013. Her research topics range from the development of advanced materials to new technologies in the field of environmental pollution. She is PI and Winner of the 2022 edition of Seed4Innovation, the innovation program of the University of Milan. Her research interests include heterogeneous photocatalysts for the degradation of emerging pollutants in both aqueous and gaseous phases and the development of piezo-photocatalytic materials for the degradation of aqueous pollutants through the application of ultrasound; floating photocatalysts for aqueous pollutant degradation through sunlight irradiation; advanced systems for wastewater treatment and recovery of nutrients and bioactive substances; coupled processes for water purification and simultaneous green hydrogen production; modified superabsorbent polymers water and nutrients slow release; innovative strategies for conducting polymer preparation and application in the field of environmental remediation.
Prof. Claudia L. Bianchi is a full professor of Industrial Chemistry at the University of Milan and coordinator of the Master’s Degree in Industrial Chemistry. She leads the ISMER Laboratory, focusing on innovative sustainable materials for environmental remediation. An expert in life cycle assessment (LCA), Prof. Bianchi is highly regarded for her work in industrial catalytic processes and environmental technology. She is renowned for her research on photocatalytic materials, particularly in the development of micro- and nanostructured materials for pollutant degradation and sustainable energy. Her expertise in surface modification techniques has been crucial in optimizing photocatalytic efficiency by tailoring material composition, morphology, and surface chemistry. Additionally, her proficiency in LCA allows her to assess and certify the environmental impact of products and processes, supporting her commitment to sustainability. Beyond academia, she serves as a consultant to private companies, advising on chemical processes, environmental compliance, and sustainable practices. With over 300 publications, an H-index of 55, and 3 patents, her work bridges the gap between research and real-world applications, contributing significantly to environmental technology and industrial processes.
