Dr. Hexu Liu is an associate professor in the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering at Western Michigan University. He completed his Ph.D. in Construction Engineering and Management from the University of Alberta in 2016. He serves as an assistant specialty editor for industrialized construction and is on the editorial board of ASCE’s Journal of Construction Engineering and Management. He also actively reviews for several leading journals and conferences. He has received multiple awards, including the Joseph D. Thompson/Zurich Canada Graduate Award and Outstanding Reviewer recognitions from top journals in construction engineering. His research interests include building information modeling (BIM), construction simulation, augmented/virtual reality (AR/VR), cloud computing, sensor technology, computer vision, and other emerging technologies.
Dr. Osama Abudayyeh is a professor and Chair of the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering at Western Michigan University. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University. He has been involved in numerous funded projects, with grants and contracts totaling over $14 million from federal, state, and private sources, including the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Michigan Department of Transportation, the HUD, the NSF, local Michigan governments, and private companies. He has authored or co-authored more than 180 articles and technical reports published in nationally and internationally recognized journals and conference proceedings. His research interests and expertise include building asset management, innovative project delivery and contracting strategies, smart buildings, safety management, bridge management systems, health monitoring and non-destructive testing and evaluation, modeling and analysis of engineering data, and project control concepts and systems.
