Prof. Paweł Węgierek was born on June 6, 1967, in
Skarżysko-Kamienna, Poland. He obtained a master's degree in electrical
engineering from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Lublin University of
Technology, in 1992. Immediately after graduation, he began working at the
Department of Electrical Devices and High Voltage Technology at the Faculty of
Electrical Engineering, currently Electrical Engineering and Computer Science,
Lublin University of Technology, as a scientist and lecturer. In the years 2008–2019,
he was the Director of the Lublin Business Incubator of the Lublin University
of Technology, and from September 2019 to October 2020, he was the Head of the
University Laboratory of Innovative Measurement Techniques. Since September 1,
2020, he has been Dean of the Faculty Electrical Engineering and Computer
Science and the Head of the Department of Electrical Devices and High Voltage
Technology. Prof. Paweł Wegierek's scientific activities are related to the
application of vacuum technology in HV switchgear and monitoring and control
systems used in electric power distribution systems to improve power supply
reliability and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, his scientific
activity concerns the use of ionic techniques to modify the electrical
parameters of semiconductors used in PV cells and microelectronics. His scientific
achievements include more than 200 items, including 70 articles indexed in the
WoS database, 15 patents, and 7 completed R&D projects.
