Andrew Bennet is a professor of chemistry and department chair at Simon Fraser University. He received his B.Sc. in chemistry at Bristol University in 1979 and Ph.D. in chemistry at Bristol University in 1985. The research interests of his group involve understanding the fundamental factors that influence the rate and mechanism of glycosyl transfer reactions, such as the enzyme-catalyzed hydrolysis of carbohydrate derivatives. Within this broad area of research, they are actively involved in the design and synthesis of novel glycosidase inhibitors.
