Dr. Aires Colaço is a PhD Researcher at the Faculty of
Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) and an Integrated Member of the
R&D Institute in Structures and Construction (CONSTRUCT). He also holds the
position of Invited Assistant Professor at FEUP. Aires Colaço completed his
academic formation at FEUP, and achieved an MSc degree in Civil Engineering
(specializing in Geotechnics) in 2012 and a PhD degree (Cum laude) in Civil
Engineering in 2019. The PhD thesis was awarded with the prizes “Prémio Joaquim
Sarmento 2019” - Fundação Eng. António de Almeida and “Prémio SPA 2018/2020” -
Portuguese Acoustic Society.
Dr. Pedro Alves Costa currently works as an Associate
Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto (FEUP); Director
of the Master’s course in Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering; and
Visiting Cheney Fellow at U. Leeds. He received his Master’s in Soil Mechanics
and Geotechnical Engineering from FEUP (2005) and PhD in Civil Engineering from
the University of Porto (2011). His main research interests: Advanced models of
analysis of dynamic train–infrastructure interactions; Models for predicting
noise and vibrations induced by railway traffic; experimental evaluation of
vibrations; advanced algorithms for analyzing the condition of the railway
infrastructure; soil-structure dynamic interaction.
Dr. Mohammed F. M. Hussein is a Professor in Civil
Engineering at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in Qatar
University. He completed his PhD from the University of Cambridge in 2005. He joined
Qatar University in September 2014 as Associate Professor and was promoted to
Full Professor in February 2021 and served as Head of Department from January
2017 to August 2023. He worked as Senior Lecturer at the University of
Southampton from July 2013 to August 2014, Lecturer at the University of
Nottingham from September 2006 to June 2013, and Postdoctoral Research
Associate at the University of Cambridge from September 2005 to August 2006. His
main area of expertise is Structural Dynamics and Vibration with particular
interest in Railway Dynamics, Ground-borne Vibration, Soil-Structure
interaction, Structural-Health Monitoring, and Human–Structure interaction.
