Dr. Alessandro Andreis, MD, PhD, GCSRT is a cardiologist currently serving as an Attending Physician at the Advanced Echocardiography Unit in the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Department of Città della Salute e della Scienza di Torino University Hospital, a position he has held since 2018. He is also the coordinator of the Pericardial Diseases Outpatient Clinic within the same department, a role he has undertaken since 2021. Dr. Andreis earned his PhD in Medical Physiopathology from the University of Torino in 2022, where his research focused on using cardiac imaging to predict major adverse events in heart failure patients. Additionally, he is a Harvard Medical School alumnus, having completed the Global Clinical Scholars Research Training program in 2022. His clinical and research activities are centered on pericardial diseases and advanced cardiac imaging, including echocardiography, cardiovascular magnetic resonance, and nuclear medicine. Dr. Andreis holds certifications in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance and Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography and is an active member of the ESC Working Group on Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases. His research contributions include participation in numerous national and international multicenter studies and randomized clinical trials, alongside 58 peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Gianluca Alunni is a cardiology specialist, currently serving as the Head of the Advanced Cardiovascular Echocardiography Unit at the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Department of the Città della Salute e della Scienza di Torino. He has extensive experience in clinical cardiology, with a strong focus on advanced echocardiographic procedures and structural heart disease. His expertise spans transthoracic, stress, three-dimensional, and transesophageal echocardiograms, as well as echocardiographic guidance during cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology procedures.
Dr. Alunni is also an accomplished author of scientific publications in the field of cardiology. In addition to his clinical work, he is an accredited instructor of Advanced Life Support (ALS) by the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) and the Italian Resuscitation Council (IRC). He holds multiple certifications, including the SIEC certification in basic echocardiography and a high-specialty certification in transesophageal echocardiography, demonstrating his commitment to excellence and continuous professional development.
Prof. Dr. Massimo Imazio is one of the world’s leading experts in pericardial diseases and a key author of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) guidelines on the subject. He is currently the Head of Cardiology at the University Hospital “Santa Maria della Misericordia” in Udine, Italy, and an associate professor of cardiology at the University of Udine.
Prof. Imazio earned his degree in Medicine and Surgery (summa cum laude) from the University of Turin in 1994, followed by specialization in cardiology in 1998 at the same university. In 2018, he obtained national habilitation as an associate and full professor in cardiology.
In addition to his current roles, he holds fellowships with the European Society of Cardiology (FESC) and the Heart Failure Association (FHFA), and is the Chairperson-Elect of the ESC Working Group on Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases.
His research focuses on pericardial diseases, myocarditis, cardiomyopathies, heart failure, cardiac magnetic resonance, and multimodality imaging.
