Dr. David Wood completed his BSc in Microbiology with Medical Biosciences and his master's degree in Biochemistry, both at the University of Kent in Canterbury. Subsequently, he joined the Lymphocyte Activation Laboratory at Cancer Research UK (the London Research Institute) and the University of Dundee (Wellcome Trust Biocentre) for a PhD in Immunology. After graduation, he undertook Postdoctoral Research Associate studies at the Vermont Center for Immunobiology and Infectious Diseases at the
University of Vermont College of Medicine. In 2009, he joined the University of Sussex Department of Biochemistry and Biomedicine as a Research Fellow, deciphering the mechanisms involved in B-cell transformation by the cancer-associated Epstein-Barr virus. In 2023, he undertook a teaching-focused
role within the School of Life Sciences and is now a Lecturer in Immunology. During his time in higher education, he has acquired an extensive research background in Virology, Immunology, and Cancer Research.
